But yeah, you can see what sort of links I have on there. Not all of them are deep, theological, or funny or technical. There are a random assortment of things on there as I come across them.....I come across a lot of the links through stumble. Man, has that become one of my best friends for finding information. Information that I didn't think that I would be able to find otherwise.....

Speaking of random.....

I am now in the PGS program. My classes start in Feburary. Its kinda a bummer since they are on a Thursday night(youth group night) but that is ok. I have to get my degree, and I already talked to the youth leader about it, and he's cool with it. It's not like I am cutting out fully on them and leaving them or something. No, I will still be involved as much as I possibly can, although what that will look like now, who knows.

Still setting up my laptop after turning in my old one. Man, this thing is gonna need a memory upgrade to keep up with what I would like to do. I ain't that advanced, and I need more than the 512 that the computer comes with...I wonder how much a gig stick would cost? Nah, too expensive!

Well, I refound out why I like PHP Designer 2005(2006 beta) so much. Maybe I should list why here....

The interface is nice. A little cluttered at first, but really easy to remove the clutter

It can use the php interpreter on the computer(php.exe) to run your php code without having to upload it to a web server....even nicer....

Built in FTP program. This would be nicer if my computer could not directly connect to the computer to place the files up on there(its on the network at work/school)

Syntex highlighting depending on which language you are prgramming in.

Ability to copy the files and synchronize them for offline use. This is handy, especially if for some reason I loose my connection to the share drive which I mapped which has the files. This wasy I can then go in and still work on the files, and then when the connection is re-established, be able to send them back to the server and have my content automatically updated....

Ok, this is enough for now....time to go....and cause havoc on the world.

W.Bloggar

This is a test for W.Bloggar, does it work? And guess what. My first program is done on it. Now it is nothing that big and special. In fact, i'm kinda ashamed about how simple it is. But it works. It relies heavily on Linux and its ability to read information from the battery. Basically all it does is read information from a text like file in linux, and displays the results/computations on the screen. But hey, it works, kinda got an idea how perl is similar and different to php and other languages I know. I like pearl. I wonder if I can get this to work in php well. I have some more fun things to research now!

Ah....

So much so fast.

Head is spinning---but its one of those good spins, you know?

This weekend was a nice long weekend, full of fun and crazyness. I hate Tuesday/Thursday mornings. Not only are they starting extremly stinking early---but they last all day! Oh well. I choose this life. Next year it will start to get easier eventually. I mean, this is my first year undertaking all of this...so it should be hard---ow well. That is life. I am taking it all in stride. Life could definatly be worse than it is. Saving for a new car(hopefully the current wagon lasts until then) and saving to start paying off college loan payments.

Speaking of fun life......

Got a letter last night. A company where I borrowed money from for school sent me one of those "oh oh" letters. They shipped a bunch of info about me to a third party(unnamed) on an unencrypted cd in the maili. Information which this cd contained includes, but is not limited to, social security, last name, address, credit history, credit ratings...........yeah.......

Yeah, today during lunch I will be calling the three credit companies and putting fraud alerts on my account---this will be fun.

Well class is about to start---yeah classes!

Ah...

I love being in linux once again....and this time I have wireless working on it! I am looking into getting a new car. Mine might last me anotehr year if I treat it good. So I definatly need to start saving up, so I can get a car that will not only treat me good but last a while. Here is where people start coming out of the woodwork saying "you should get X becasue it is a sweet car" Well I am here to say that I am getting what I want. And what I want is a small suv. Reason? 1) still has good gas mileage 2)not the most expensive vehicle out there 3) can transport my amp. Ah my amp. The number one thing that it has to be able to transport. So yeah, that is why I have decided to go that route. Right now I am actually looking at the Kia Sportage. But first before I decide if I am going to get the vehicle, I have to do one thing. What is that one thing? Consolidate my student loans into one. Ah, yes, the power of student loans. I love them so much......

Ok, so I don't. But I can be annoying when I want? Righ?

Well I got wireless working on my linux! Am I excited? Whew. I actually had no idea how that one would go. But I guess I did well enough in the interviews to let Bryan take a chance on me.

Other than that. Just finished ordering my orinco card. I love those things. Even thoughts its only B rated, it provides the greatest compatability in linux. That is what is the best about it.

What else?

Oh yeah. There was a news story released which goes against conventional wisdom on the internet right now. Symantec has stated that Internet Explorer is more secure than Firefox. Now there is a suprise and a kicker.

Finally moved into the house, its been fun there. Interesting would more be the key word. I live with some great people. Even though I am hardly there I must admit. Its still great.

Well...time to go...time to have fun!

Paul DeArment

Interview

So today I had my interview for TechSupport as the Helpdesk Analyst. Thats a fancy way of saying sitting up front and answering phones and helping those who walk in. Its cool. I enjoy it. It's basically what I have been doing all summer long. :-D Well anyways. I had two interviews today. First one was with Bryan, Jason, and Andrej. That was probably the most nervous cause I didn't know what to expect. That was at 11:30. Then at 2:30 I had the interview with ISOT. Now that was interesing. The reason being is that they are all from differnt departments. Database services, Technology Support, Network Operations, Library, ITC, and then our VP. SO variety is the key apparently! And it as interesting cause the questions were more varied, but it was then good at the same time. I was unsure of how I had done in the interviews, but afterward while talking to Bryan really quick at the end of the day he reassured me that I did well. So that is a good thing I am assuming.

Tomorrow I have some testing at HR. That will be....who knows. Bryan didn't say exactly what it was other than that it was standard HR testing. ???? Anyone have any idea what standard HR testing is? I will just go into it like I went into the interviews today. Unsure of what to expect, but ready to handle whatever comes my way. It worked today, although I will admit it took some strength today due to the higher level of stress/anxiety than normal. But it turned out fine. I went and saw the Deats at work and then we went to Subway. Came back. I ate my sub, walked back to the room, talked to Sophie for a min and then logged onto PSO for a bit. The day had me woren out so I took a two hour nap, got up and now here I am. :-D

Well for now I am living out of garbage bags until I figure out if I am staying on campus or moving out. Either way my life is about to get very intersing very fast. I will keep this updated with the randomness of life that I am having. Oh, and by the way---the next "update" to tims now consists of 29 different things. WHEW. From 10 to 29.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

Well, not on the litteral road, lol.

More like on the virtual road again. The road of TIMS. I got ten nice new updates planned for TIMS, coming soon to a local intranet on CU. Those updates(with one which I just completed included...I will mark it...) are....

1) Reorganize Menus
2) "Softcode" list of statuses
3) Mainentence meu(maybe---might throw into the weekly check)
4) Inventory Menu
5) Summary Menu
6) Remove an old and outdated report(and all things tied to it)(DONE!)
7) Add "decommissioned" status to printers, and then update reports accordingly to handle this new status of printers
8) Fix bug in "Add New Printers" function
9) Reduce false positives on the printer monitor
10) Rename all tables to start with TIMS_

These are gonna be fun to implement. Some are not too bad. Such as the bug in Add New Printers. Some of the other one(mainly all the menu re-organizations) will be a pain to deal with. Cause that will cause a relinking in some of the areas, so I will have to make sure those links follow all the way through. Some of the other ones will also be interesting. Such as the summary menu. That will be javascript based(maybe...) and will more than likely be a pain in the rear end to do. The one that is most important is number 2. That one is critical. I have found that as firmwares are updated and printers change model numbers, they might have different statuses for how they determine if printer cartridges are low or missing. So in the past(at the very get go) I hard coded those parameters into the system. Now as our network of printers are starting to change, I find that there will be a need to change these possible in the future. And harcoding these into the system will not do. I need to store these in a database and then load them when needed, store them in an array, and then go through the array to determine if that is one of the status messages of a printer that indicate that it is missing a toner cartridge. This way the list of statuses can be updates without having to go into the code of TIMS itself and change it.

The other pain one will be reducing the number of false positives on the monitor. That will be fun cause at this moment I have no way to do it speedily. I can do it, but it will slow the system way down.....think think think

I keep these updates coming at TIMS like this and pretty soon it will have to transition over to 2.0 becuase none of the original code will be around!

Oh well, no time to chat, family is almost here, adios all!

Congratulations

Congratulations are in order for Andrej and his wife on the birth of their daughter
http://haveyouhadyourbabyyet.blogspot.com

Crazy Day

Its a crazy day. Yes it is. Heck, when is one of my normal work days not crazy?

Been a full week back at work, an dI still feel like I am playing catchup from the week I was gone at home. It was worth it going home though, as a lot of stuff had to be done around the house. It was also just nice to have a week and relax a little, although I don't know how you can call laboring out in the hot sun relaxing at all. But like I said, it had to be done, so I didn't mind one bit. It was kinda a different pace than sitting down behind a desk all week, ya know?

Well today was entertaining. I discovered that I am allergic to tuna fish. Not deadly allergic. Just allergic enough where it becomes puffy right above my eye-brows. My mom first noticed the puffiness this past Sunday when I was at home. I had some tuna fish that saturday in the form of tuna salad. One of my favorite meals. I have also had tuna all this week in the form of panera. Hmm...I love their tuna salad sandwich there. But the puffiness has been getting worse and worse as the week has been going on, as a direct result of the tuna. Guess I will have to stay away from it for a while.

Other than that, I have decided that once the position becomes available, I will try out and apply for the position. If I don't get the position than I don't get it. Eh? Oh well. That's ok. I'm ready to take all that comes my way.

Well as far as for other fun and new things that are going on in my life. Nothing much else is happening. I have started playing pso blue burst. I love this latest incarnation of PSO. It's on the computer. Has a brand new episode. And also has new items and other fun things which seems to streamline the story a little bit more. So far I have recreated my two favorite characters on there. I have Nina which is a Fonewarl(female Newman force) and Gus, my RaMar(male human ranger). Both of them are excelling nicely right now. Can't wait till I get a few more levels up with each of them as they progress through the story, and eventually through episode 4. Although for my force it will be a little while before she is able to get out there........

Anything else new? No, not that I can think of. There are a few "fun" things such as just daily work routines. Right now we are in the middle of swapping out the old D600's(2003 model) to the new D610's. Lets just say there is a big jump in performance there. Actually, a really big jump. Not so much processor wise, although there is a jump there because of the fact that the processor(if I am correct) has some more cache. It also is faster processor---by maybe 200 MHZ tops. Not a lot, but still, being able to pull a little more juice out of somethign is always good.

Well I should get going I guess. I mean, I do have some work to do, although right now there is a little bit of a lull. But I do have some catching up of some things to do. Like what? I don't know. I will find something to do. I can always find something to do here at work. There is always some paper work or something along those lines to do. And of course....there is always TIMS to complete working on...........

<img src="http://www.audioblogger.com/media/images/audioblogger.gif" class="audImg"border="0" alt="this is an audio post - It was day 1 of 5 in where me and Andrej are basically running techsupport all by ourselves. That isn't to say that netops isn't there and database services is gone, just that the IS part of the whole IT conglomerate is right now occupied by two people. Jason and Bryan are gone on some men's trip with their church where they canoe and backpack through part of Canada. Should be fun for them. Unfortuantly I won't see them when they get back, as soon as this week is over I am headed home for all of next week. That should be fun. I know I will enjoy a) having a week off of work b)spending some time at home c) sleeping in late d)break from programming.

Speaking of which, I am pretty much taking a break from that for a while. Right now I am celebrating in fact. Mountain Dew and pizza. That is how I am celebrating, just like any old party that you would have in high school.

It feels so weird not having to do any code tonight. It's almost as though I I have nothign left to do in the world....

Just kidding with ya. I have a lot of coding left to do(such as code optimizations---that will come at a later date though) but that will come later....cause tonight I am going to celebrate. Celebrate that TIMS is finally(to this point) done with for a while. Done with enough that I don't have to constantly work on it every waking hour of every waking day. I remember when I first started on it and I had no idea how to do what I was doing. Now. I could probably recode it in my sleep, although I would need to relook up the snmp references on what variable kept the location for the pages printed in the printer.....

Wow......

I ramble don't I?

You can say yes.......come on...say it........say IT...........

On completly other note, this article I just read is extremly crazy and scary Scientest bring dog back to life.....

Think about the implications of this for a moment if you will. Ok, granted it is cool and has a lot of potential in the scientific and medical community......but think of how it can easily be misused and abused by those who are a) rich and b) powerful c) corrupt (funny isn't it how everything that is basically good is abused by the rich and powerful or corrupt)

Personally, I have mixed feelings on this. Yeah it would be cool to be able to save someone from dying when they are still pretty young(good---why I would be for it), but with this technology, people could do that whole cyrogenics fad all over again and keep themselves essentially frozen for a long time......trying to cheat death---to have "another shot" at life as they say..........

Why are we as a society afraid to die? Why do we, whenever we get the chance, take it upon ourselves to go and try to play God?

Why?

We are afraid of death. The one thing that our entire life is geared toward is finding a way to cheat and overcome death. We don't want to face it head on. Look, we do everything that we can to make us look/feel/imagine/think/dream/etc...(you get the point) to everyone else that we are in fact younger. We can't come to the truth and realization that we are getting older and that eventually we will die. We try to fill our time and direct our heart's passions to other things, things that will fulfill us in the hear and now. We, as a society, don't think about the future. We think about what can I do now that will satisfy me now that will keep me happy now. Its all about now. And when we eventually do get old and grey, and the nows start becoming less sure of themselves, we start to question what do we have to do to ensure that tomorrow we will have another now. We arn't happy in our lives, in fact, we are the complete opposte. We are completly misserable with our existence. So we try to go out and fill our lives up with everything else. A big stereo, a nice car, 5 ipods, three computers, etc, etc..... And then we try to do the ultimate thing to have as many nows as possible, we try to cheat death with any means shape or form possible....

Don't get me wrong, I think there can be a lot of good that comes out of this research(find a way to "freeze" someone while performing long surgery on them to keep them alive and reduce the chances of damage to their system) but there is always the bad that comes out of it that can be scary.

Now as soon as I see the first hospital with a lightning rod on it....I'm out of here......

Man...I ramble.....

Ah....the power of w.bloggar

Call me lazy all ya want.......

I'm waiting........

I just don't wanna program a web blog right now. I got TIMS to take care of, so I am being lazy and using utilities to make blogging even easier. My newest tool(w.bloggar v 4.0) allows me to blog from windows without having to sign into blogger. Ah, the beauty of it. I like it.

BUT WHAT ABOUT PROGRAMING YOUR OWN AND MAKING IT SUPER SWEET AND WHAT NOT!?!

Maybe eventually I'll get there, but not while I am currently maintain TIMS.....Speaking of which....brb---have to back it up to the H:\ drive.

There...done.....well...it will be done in a few minutes....

Have to back it up once in a while, can't risk loosing my last semesters worth of work, as well as the recent enhancements I have done to it. So what is new to it?

Dynamic graphing with dynamic scaling of the graph as well. YEAH!

It took me a while to get all the kinks worked out, such as transmitting an array through the url and having the php script process the array properly, but once I got that figured out, it was pretty easy to go through the array and display the data appropriately. Calculating the scale to use was a little pain at first, but once I got it, it was easy, just had to make enough conditions depending on the length of the number so that way it isn't rounding down too low............now that I am thinking of it....I should check some more numbers running it through my script I have.........eh....that can wait until tomorrow.......maybe.........unless I get the urge to do it tonight................

Well......lets see, since TIMS was originally released, what have I done differently to it.......

Added CSS to TIMS

Reformated the reports layout(to include CSS as well) but in general to make it more organized

Edited the databases to account for the graphs and the data they request---such as departments and location of printers

Added a "printer monitor" to keep track of the status of all the printers on campus

Added a "status box" and "summary box" to some pages using css

Added dynamic graphing capabilities with the graphic being created on the fly(see above) using < img src = MonthGraph.php?(array of variables) >---thanks Ryan for the idea for it

A function that will run only once a week that goes out and gets the number of pages a printer has printed......it will display a link once a week that the user can push to run the function....if it has already been run for the week, then the function won't run and won't mess with the numbers in the database....whew that took me a couple times to figure out at first

Other than that....can't think of anything off the top of my head right now, although if I went through the code I could come up with more........and I am not about to do that......have spent too much time working on the code this past weekend, I don't need to spend more time looking or working on the sucker right now. It's backed up,working, and thats all I care about right now......

Now to think of some other cool things to add to it.......any suggestions?

Sitting and chilling....

So here I am sitting in the hallway of Crawford. Just doing nothing really. Listening to music, trying to work on a comptuer(but forgetting the proper files to replace to fix it) and just being social. For once in my life. LOL. For a loner to be social has always been "interesting."

The admin side of the network is running extremly slow right now, and I do not know why. It's actually kinda annoying, since i wanna access it for something in particular right now. At least it will eventually load---maybe----maybe. AUGH. Why is it so slow? I wanna know that one!

Well lets see anything else new here? Got a new chair at work. It has a mesh background.

........Three days later..........

Man, been a while since I was able to get back to this posting. Not much is new. Almost decided to go to Gentoo(gentoo.org) linux, but decided against it. I have a working stable version of linux, and no need for me to mess with it right now. Now, a different windows manager I would like, so I am looking into that one right now. But for now, I am happy with what i have.

Well I guess I should go ahead and wrap up this post.

On a side note. Css is both great and horrible at the same time. I don't know if I like it or hate it at this point. It can be useful, but at the same time annoying(like not printing out the background color that you gave it for alternating rows so that when a report prints out it looks HORRIBLE!)

<img src="http://www.audioblogger.com/media/images/audioblogger.gif" class="audImg"border="0" alt="this is an audio post - click to play" />

Florida Sunset.....the memories....and a Blogger test....

This is just one of those images that I like. I took it down in Florida during Spring Break while we were driving on our first day there. Ah the memories. Well I had to log in to try out the new features of Blogger. Haven't actually logged in in a while, have been relying more or less on Drivel. Guess I will have to log in once in a while from now on so I can upload some random pictures every once in a while. (At least photoblogger makes it easy to upload photos, before you had to go through a big hassle to get it up on the site....glad they finally started to think abour the normal standard users for a chance. I do web programming and tech support all day, I don't wanna spend my "blog" time doing more coding and hard work to get it looking decent. I got other things to do(like working on TIMS) instead of trying to code out a blog site......maybe one day when I get bored I will work on the framework I already have laid out on my test site....maybe....

Apache + PHP = NO MORE WINDOWS!

I'm trying to get my apache + php set up in linux. I spend most of my day at work and most of my time at "home" working on TIMS, and trying to add more new features to it. I seem to be able to bash about one out a day. Yesterday it was a new report which Bryan requested that TIMS be able to produce. Today its a link around the printers name in the above said report as well as in the printer monitor which brings up a new window with information specific to that printer(such as name(duh!), model number, location, and also what printer cartridges it uses) which I hope will be helpful in the future. This way we dont have to dig around through Andrew or ask Jason every ten seconds about printers to try to figure out what model the printer is, and what cartridge to use with it. We just go to the printer monitor if its running, and if not, run the Printer Inventory report. This will generate a list of all the printers either in alphabetical order of the names of the printer or in "alphabetical" order of the name of the model of the printer, whichever the user chooses(default is to do it as model in alphebetical order---now that I am thinking about that......maybe I should switch it to name....hmm...I think I might edit that tonight.....)

So when one thinks/breaths/eats only their project, are they obsessed? I think so. So I must be obsessed. WHOO HOO. I am finally obsessed about something.

But seriously, this has been a great learning experience for me. Yeah true I still have a lot left to do as far as for making this fully professional, but I got one year left to do this. I'm only human, and a one man team at that. So I plug along at it as best as I can as fast as I can, thinking of new ways to optimize the code more, make it cleaner, and other fun things like that. (What's really fun is maintaining three versions of the code and keeping those three straight---I have the "Stable" version thats on Noah where all the fixes trickle down to eventually, I have the "Beta" version that I keep on my laptop that is essentially the same as the "Stable" but I run it on my laptop first to test it before I send it---to make sure my "bug fixes" don't accidently introduce new bugs into the system. And then there is the straight out test version---this is the one that looks the worst of them all right now.......and hopefully I will get it all cleaned up again soon(I try to test "new" functions in their own php file to keep it as clean as possible) This is where I test the newest features of tims that I have which are incomplete.) Tims has a lot of proejcts going on right now. The current project right now that I am working on is doing dynamic graphs in TIMS. It's possible. I have it about 3/5 of the way done. Now to just modify it how i need to.........and then its all good.

Well its time to go.........time to go back out into the sunshine

Microchip Pioneer Jack Kilby Dies at 81 - Yahoo! News

So I was reading through the technology section today of Yahoo, and noticed the above article. Man, so much technology is a direct or indirect result of his work. It's crazy to think that one person, one man could change the course of history so. Of course, when thinking through the ENTIRE history of earth, I guess it's not as big as I first thought it was. I mean, look at what Jesus was able to accomplish in his short time here on Earth, the ramifications and impact he left/is leaving is still felt today.

Its still crazy to think though how much impact this one man has had on a lot of our lives. But something didn't go right. Either we had the wrong directions wrong time or wrong date. Something. Well we got to the house, and no one was there. Literally. Sophie even went and knocked on the door and no one answered. ::sigh:: oh well. We lived, didn't we? We took what we had taken for the reunion and went and had our own little gathering. We went to this park and had lunch there. We had pasta salad, potatoe salad, and some cheese dip(although the cheese had already started to harden it was still good) with some chips. I had my Vault to drink and Sophie and Shanon had water. All in all though, it was a good time. We enjoyed some laughs, and just some hanging out time. Its fun to be able to just relax without any worries for a little big. Well I think I am going to get going cause i got some things to take care of before the day ends.....or should I say before I go to the fire at Ben's house. I gotta upgrade Fedora---and do some other fun things besides that---like clean out my car. Oh well. Well time to get going----its time to finally get productive today.

Why I love LINUX Reason # 101

So I was kinda sick of having to get online and log into my blogger all the time to be able to post to it. So I haven't that much. But today while looking around on Fedora 4's list of tools available to it, I found this program. It is called Drivel. It allows me to post to my blog, without having to go to it. I sign in on the main page, and then. BAM. A text window appears which allows me to then update my blog remotly. This is kinda cool. I thought about doing my own blogging software, and might still. But for now, I am sticking with this. If I do my own stuff, something like this would be required for me to be able to switch over. I'm in too much love with it now, so I don't know how I could leave this......

Anywhooo.....

Lets see. Anything going on today? Not really. Will be updating tonight to Fedora Core 4. Yeah, yeah. Been a while since I got the ISO's. Just have not gotten around to actually updating my comptuer. I have been....busy. With what you might be asking? Well, yesterday and today I was doing some last minute touches to TIMS. Of course, as soon as I get done doing one touch, a new one appears and pops up its head. I love it. Well, I don't have apache competly open to me yet in linux, so the past few days I had to live in Windows and run my apache server to test out my new/edited bits of code. I have to admit, my coding style is not the most advanced or refined out there, but it is coming along slowly(must have made Ryan cringe when he first saw it) . And as I learn new methods, I go back and see what I can do to futher refine my older code. Especially now with TIMS actually on NOAH. I will periodically have to go back and re-edit my code as need be.(like--new features, change the way one feature works, etc...) Which I don't mind of course. But this gives me that strange opportunity to see how something works. Something that is my child, my baby. Kinda weird. Almost like a strange dread and a sense of aww and wonder at the same time. Guess I can't have too much dread, cause fear just paralizes ya.

Well its getting that time again where I have to go, so I will catch yall later. I guess and I supose.

Adios for now.

Whew.....

Wow, what to say. What to say.

This past month has been what you call interesting. I don't know where God is leading me, or is preparing to lead me.

Then again.......

Is it me who is leading myself and not relying on God and only fooling myself into thinking that God is currently leading me?

If for a moment I could be frank(no, not Frank Burns) I would have to say that this month quite honestly just plain sucks. Sure, its summer. Weather is warm out, sun shinning, I'm working and earning some money for next school year. But I feel so distant. Ok, granted computer people arn't known as being the most popular and outgoing people at a party and tend to be loners(sterotype...I know---but I guess I fit into that category pretty well) who would like nothing else than to just work on their computer. Granted my coworkers make the days go by fast.........But this is a different type of distant. Like I've gone too far to find myself from how I was before. Like I've let myself get to this point. Just found out that my mom might have MS. No, not Microsoft, Multiple-Schlerosis(sp). Some disease which messes with the neurons. She's still pretty young too to get something like that. Another brain disease. There are times when I almost wanna raise my fist up and just scream for hours on end because of it. Other times I get out the stress in other ways(I prefer the other ways method personally). So that means I have to keep a close eye on whats going on at home. My mom has never had the best memory in the world. She could forget something that she just talked to me about ten seconds ago, but I never thought this. I don't know which is worse. A disease which takes away the person completly, or a disease which leaves a hollow shell of a person, leaving no mark of who they once were in them, but leaving them. i hate to think what could happen if it is in fact MS. I personally don't think that at this time I could deal with it. It took me what.....almost 8 years to get over my dad? Something tells me this is gonna be a long next few months as tests are done. Its so crazy too. I mean, on one hand, I am thanking God that it isn't a tumor(like they originally thought it was) and here I am going----"but why is it this?" The original MRI the doctors did on her showed two areas of the brain(two, not one) which seem to be infected. One really large portion, the other a really small portion.

So there are two parts going on in my head right now. One is: "Trust God, He knows what He is doing." The other is going: "What the heck is going on? Trust? What good is that?"

Two very polar thoughts from the same mind, a mind trying to come to terms and grasp it all.

I guess you can say I'm on a journey right now. A journey to refind who I am in the midst of the chaos. I didn't dissapear. I haven't given up my faith in God(and far be it that I will---how can I try to deny the Truth that I believe and trust in in my heart)---just putting my mind/heart to question as all people do at times. How long/hard/crazy will this be? Leave me alone."--Coworker

Well Friday was a weird day all around. First, the move the trailer has begun. Yeah. Thats right. IS is moving out to the trailer with the network ops guys. This will be entertaining. Second. (And most tragic and happy at the same time) Pam is leaving our beloved department come June 1. She is leaving for a better job. YEAH! She took over Scott's old job. Congrats Pam! Well with her departure leaves a lot of holes and mystery open as to what will happen with her position(who will be our next Pam? I mean---there can only ever be one Pam!)as she hinted that Bryan has some "interesting" ideas for the position. Don't have time to worry about that now. Of course. I get to play Pam for the rest of the summer as is. So that will be interesting all around.(as in---I am taking over her position basically until a replacment is found) Oh well.

Today I got my new amp. I am so happy. The speaker is a JBL Legend, 300 WATTS of pure sound. The amp only throws out 200, so its all good. No worry about destroying this one(which is odd---my last system had a 200 watt amp with a 120 watt speaker---can you say issues?) So here I am looking at it. My new toy. I might just get unlazy enough to actually play it tonight. That would be interesting since I havent played in a while. But this will make going to rehersal and all that a little more interesting, as I wont be able to do it all in one trip anymore. Nope. Two trips minimum--maybe three---for me
::sigh::

Oh well. What can I say right? I mean, an amp is an amp, and I love my lamp...I mean amp(I LOVE LAMP.....stuipid movie corrupting my head)

Trying to find a box to fit this in is gonna be a pain in the royal behind, but thats ok. I will go ahead and make my own sometime this summer. Just gotta find somewhere where i can work on it. Maybe when I go home around the fourth? hmm. The posibilities.

Well. The microwave just dinged. I gots to go. Later

--Gus

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://randomizedharmony.blogspot.com/2005/05/im-producing-anti-bodies-leave-me.html' title='"I'm producing anti-bodies. A dive I haven't taken in a long time. Thats right. I am running linux again. :-O

Its actually not that bad as one might think.

But this type of linux I am running. Its different. Its linux running INSIDE of Windows. :-O

I know. The two biggest competitors for the OS market running side by side on the same disk, with the same partition. Its just....unnatural. But it works. It really does. In fact. I am writting my post in that very setup. Linux side of course.

Well, I have had some bumpy roads with it(having to reinstall it once because of bad IP configurations that I couldnt manually edit. ::sigh::) But right now it seems to be going good. I got linux up and running. I got sound going through the "network" to my windows side and letting my windows drivers do sound. I got a ftp server/client relationship set up so I can access my files on either side without having to worry about getting my windows partition "dirty". Its defiantly a fun time all around.

Yeah, so to pump sound over to windows I use a nice little program called esound. It works wonders as far as getting the sound over to my windows side. For my ftp server/client setup I have a server called PFTP(freeware version) and on my linux setup I have a ftp client called gFTP. Had to compile it and all from source, but the instructions provided were top notch and I hate it running in no time at all. So yeah. Check it out. Comment if you ever wanna try CoLinux and I will point you in the right direction. Aiight. Peace out. Later.

Yeah for the summer

Ok, so its summer.

And I am working.

Well I can't complain. I choose to work this summer. And actually it will be fun. Well is fun. Reason? I'm working at tech supprot all summer long. How can that be bad? eh? I definatly do enjoy it. Its only been a week but its been interesting. (What makes it more interesting is that Pam has a two week class right now, so I get to cover the front desk in the morning...WHOOO HOOO---note the enthusiam) Besides that there really is not that much that is new. In two weeks we are moving out to the network operations trailor. Reason being that they are replacing the roof on Bolthouse. Don't know exactly why they are, but they are. Hey, who am I to complain and all? I am just a lowly student worker. LOL.

But eh, things could be worse. I could be home with absolutly nothing to do. Instead I am here at CU, living on campus where the dorms are anything but dead as well as working at Tech support 40 hours a week. Speaking of which....I need to do my time card sometime in the future...gotta remember to do it before it is too late.

I kinda find it funny here at work when it rains. You can hear the rain so easily in work. Its actually kinda relaxing, you know? Other times it just getss to that point where it gets on my nerves and I'm like "THATS IT" or something along those lines. Sometimes its funny(the rain that is---how it "powers up" just in the end to do its full "power down" stuff), other times its just plain annoying(when it goes at full blast for hours on end). Eh, what do I care, right? I mean, come on, it could be worse. A tornado could pass through here(or with my horrible spelling a rronado would have passed through had I not caught my error)

Other than work, not that much is new. I finally have gotten back around to working with Linux some more. True it is not a full true linux, but it works. CoLinux(as it is called) is a nice piece of software that allows you to run Linux on top of windows in its own nice virtual machine. Its nice, and free. Also, I have slackware(version 10) running on the CoLinux, but there has been some modifications to it. Thats ok. It still works close to the real thing. Which is good.

Well Linux, work, done with school, friends, chatting. Thats all thats going on in my life, so I guess thats all I have to write about. Adios for now. Later.

Gus

This is a screen shot of my main menu for tims...what do you think?

This is my old TIMS logo. Seems like my blog entries are starting to go onto montly cycles. Hope that isn't the case, that would be bad.

Well life has definatly been fun for me. Two virus attacks on the campus within two weeks---although I will say the second one that hit was much more mild as we were already preping and patchign from the previous weeks attack(which weirdly enough shared the same vunerability....hmmmm)

Well anyways.

My internship is coming to a close finally. It's kinda weird. I mean, I have been busting my butt on this project the entire semester. And I am kinda sad to finally see it end. Yeah, I have been busy beyond all degree trying to get this thing to work correctly, but jeesh. It will be over! There is a little anxiety on my part. Especially the first time it goes live on NOAH. Man. T.I.M.S. will be hosted on NOAH. Talk about a nerve wrecking experience the first time it goes up live for its intial test period. Another nerve wrecking experience. Teaching everyone how to use T.I.M.S. Another fun thing there. Speaking of it. I haven't been on here recently, so a bunch of you probably don't know what T.I.M.S. is. T.I.M.S. stands for Toner Inventory Managment System. Yeah. The name is kinda lame, I know. But it was either that or LPR(pronounced L(e)P(e)R) or P.I.M.P.(imagine shouting out over the wall---"PIMP DOWN,PIMP DOWN" The jokes that could come out of that are endless.)

T.I.M.S. is my little baby that I had ever since it was conceived. The project idea actually wasn't mine. It was Andrej's. And I do need to thank him for that. Really, I do. It's been one of the more challenging and fun programming assignments I have had in a long time. Something that was challenging but not something that was so rigid that it could not grow or evolve into its own thing as time went on. When I first started this sucker, I had no idea how it would/could work. I didnt know if it was even possible. I searched around online for something about talking to printers in php, and it returned this SNMP(simple network managment protocall) usage idea. The problem was, no one really had fully implemented it. The last known code done on it took place in 2000, with the ability to talk to a few select HP printer models, and even then the data returned was sketchy at best. It was not able to return all the data appropriatly. It was cool to see a demo of some code that could talk to printers and get some data from them. So using that I started to modify it. Learn how SNMP worked. Tried creating forms which sent an IP address to the program and let it look up the array of data that way. For a while, I couldnt get it to work(me and my stupidity at HTML took over) and then started getting it to work. I bulit one function at a time. Slowly adding functionality to the list of things the program could do. First started out with getting printer data. Then started out updating database. Then added to check if it was already in the database or not. And from there things just continued to role out and be more productive.

All of that continued until now. 45+ pages of code. Thats right ladies and gentlmen. 45 pages all coded by hand. That was a blast(now I can never complain of those 10 page papers again.....dang it)

I have been making backup copies of my code everytime something big changes. Like last night. Its up to RC4. WHOO HOO. It is so differnt than the original code I went in and showed my boss this past Monday. The code literally has evolved into almost a new program just becasue of the feature enhancments and code changes they wanted. But hey. They are the ones paying me to intern. So they get to make the shots and the calls, I am just the lowly minion who runs around and does their bidding. But seriosly, its been fun. LOL.

Just to show you I aint joshing and pulling on your legs, here is a snipit of some of my code. This code can be found in anotehr form on the web that I am posting here. This is the only part of my code that HAS NOT CHANGED from the original project done back in 2000. Otherwise, the rest is 100% different.

$a = snmpwalkoid($ip, $community, "");
echo "<>";

if($a)

{

print_r($a);

}

else

{

echo "There is a problem communicating with this printer at this time.";

}

echo "< /pre>";

Well time to go get my computer from I.S. Why am I crazy? Why do I care? Why do I.....fill in the blank.

This past weekend was a blast. Went down to Indiana and played at Mark's dads church. It was interesting. Meet two new people, one of them actually lives in the section. I knew who he was, but this was the first time I actually got to like talk to him a little. Now, we didnt bond and become like best buds, but its a start. Also meet one of Mark's friends, her name is Sarah. Interesting = very yes.

Well, I was told about this little shinding the day before the semester started. And we had our first practice on the thursday(wednesday?) before the shinding. Thats neat. Then we also practiced a little on saturday night(of course we were all tired so we kinda sucked at it) and then on Sunday afternoon. I was taking a nice nap on the pews when I hear marks voice coming from the back "Paulie, I need you"--this implies immediatly computer problems. And sure enough. That was the thing that he needed. I need to seriously start allocating and setting up shop in VO for private tech support hours. Its getting a little on the ridiculous side(oh wait, isn't life crazy?) with all these people coming up and asking for me to fix their computers(sorry becky that you don't get as many requests....but you got the programming job offer!)

Well I was a little nervous getting ready for Sunday night, but eventually it all came together. And it definatly wasn't us. And we were reminded of that several times that day. First my battery went completly dead, and then Mark's battery died out. WHOO HOO. Voices died, and missed ques and capoing. It definatly was not the pretiest thing in the world at times, but hey, like they say "Make a joyful noise." LOL.

After our first practice, and on the way down to Indiana, I was kinda bummed out. Why? Cause of a song we were playing. It had been a little while since I had heard or thought about it, and finally it came up, and not at a prime moment either. I don't know. For some reason when we first played through that song on the practice night, thoughts/images/memories of my dad's funeral shot through my mind. That was definalty an interesting time. And it was also something that I was not expecting either. But, unlike in my past, as soon as I realized what was happening, I sat down and analized it. It took a while, but eventually, I was able to point the finger where and why it was causing me grief. And once I did and I handled the situation, I started to feel more at peace and I started to "recover" from it. I guess I learned a lot about myself last semester, and for that I am grateful. There are a lot of things that I wish never happened. But then again, some of those things I am am glad that they did happen. If they didnt, I wouldnt have grown, and become the person that I am today. I'll give you that there are still things being worked on by me, but you know, life is a challenge.

Its an amazing thing, performing, that is. Performing in front of an audience, always seems to bring out the best in any performer. Even when your not trying. Sunday night had a bigger and better crowd than I was expecting. It was truely a suprise to me. And you know what, it was awsome. Now, I know I made some mistakes and some miss-timings and some other errors, but you know what? Who cares? I mean, what was I really doing it for? If it was for the recognition, then that is/was the wrong motivation for it. And I pray and hope that I can honestly say that that was not the truth(that I did it for recognition.)

Well its time for reading and time for homework before classes tomorrow. So I guess its time to bid this blog adue. You get ME! I have been without my computer since Wednesday, and thanks to Drew's little "Paul exploded it" message on my computer, they didnt know what to do until Friday. Oh boy. DREW!!!!

Anyways. Last night I was in one of those "I have to program" modes, and since I didnt have a computer I got out a slab of paper and started to pseudo-code it up on the paper. I wrote down the entire decoding procedure for my new encoding method when I then realized I hadent made up an encoding procedure that I know would work. DUH! SO I had to scrap that and come up with a new one. I am currently working on it. So far I have this. Its 128bit, based on a combination of 9 +/- combinations as well as a combination of 9 "sequence" modifiers which orientates the data in nine different patterns. I know what I am getting myself into, and it will be a while before I am able to get the encodign scheme up and working properly again. It will take some time before I am able to test it out too, I dont have a computer until tomorrow night, and then I will want to do some other things on it, not program right away at first, although there is nothing wrong with programming. Man, if I only I could overcome some of the problems with dynamic encoding, I think it would be allright. Wait a min....hmmm......I think I just got an idea. What if?????????

See ya all later, time to go put my idea on paper and see how it fares

I know this is weird...

One of my good friends just informed me that he is starting a blog. So. I thought I would post the link to it for anyone that actually reads this. and don't ask me what his name is, I promised him I wouldnt tell anyone. I will give this warning though, some adult material might be covered, but if anything, this will be for the (hopefully) ultimate good of the person who reads it. It isn't worthless matterial which causes a degregation in the person, instead it is hopefully there to help. I talked to him already and although its hard to listen to what he has to say at times and sometimes it might seem a little pornographic at times---it has some good points to it and worth it. Especially if you are a guy. I really think you should check out the site, so here is the link: http://fightingdaily.blogspot.com/

Mr. IT finally did it....

A couple of days ago(Wednesday night to be exact) I was all happy. I had re-discovered my lovely gift card from my aunt to Best Buy and I was bored. Bored, thats the story of my life at times. Anyways. I was bored, and I was going with some guys down to Best Buy to help them choose out a piece of hardware to add onto their computer, and while I was down there decided to see how much a season of M*A*S*H would cost me on DVD. Turns out it was like 25 dollars, so with my 15 dollar gift card I was able to easily aquire my lovely sixth season of mash for a meer 10 dollars. Oh how my heart was joyful(in case you havent figured it out, I love MASH, the reason being that at times its so stuipid and whimsical that you cannot not love it!) But anyways. I come back to the room, after riding in Adam's car back to the dorm and pop in the DVD. Processor power went skyrocketting up to 100% on the DVD software. I was totally perplexed about why it would do that...there was no reason for it to do something like that. So figuring that it was probably a fluke in the MS operating system(I think it had been about three days since I had done a full reboot of the system) so I decided to reboot it. Nothing unusual heppened there......like it ever does. Anyways, login prompt came up, and as soon as I logged in and the computer was starting to apply settings....BOOM! The screen turned black, and the computer refused to turn on. Great. Just great. So I look at the time and notice its before ten and grab my coat and walk on down to IS with my laptop in my bookbag. I get there, and Drew is working(Whew---glad it wasn't Becky) at the desk, so I go in back and grab the little tool we use to remove teh screws from the bottom of the laptop.....there had been times before when a memory stick would get unseated and then would cause the computer not to boot up. I was hopin that this was the case in this situation. So I went in the back, got the tool, and reseated the memory. To no success mind you. So with great sadness I had to turn my computer in to get a new motherboard(MOBO)...::sigh:: Hopefully it will be done today and I hope it wasnt the wireless card, cause if it was......I will cry. But anyways. Besides that, other things have been going good. I got my application for DC for next year. Yeah, last year I was kinda in a bad mood after a while because of the politics of the school, but there is a new person overseeing the DC's and what not, so I am gonna go in and apply again, and not let last year influence me in any way shap or form.

On another note, I am waiting until they post the opening of the position in network operations. I would like to apply to the job, and hopefully it won't conflict with the job I currently hold at IS, cause if it did, I would keep the job over at IS, even though the network ops job sounds like a lot of fun and a challenge to do. Its something that I don't have a lot of experience in, so it would take me a few days to learn it, but then once I do, I'll be all set to go! Hopefully. I still have to apply....I'm not anywhere near guarenteed for the job, so I just have to keep my head on straight and realize that I might not get it and that if I don't that it will be ok, if I don't get it though, I think I would be ok for the rest of the semestere financially speaking, but the fact is that I only have 10 credits this semester.....and the homework I have for most of the classes are just reading...yeah...I have the potential to get bored really fast, and that fact is not good. I cannot get bored, otherwise I know that I will end up finding myself in trouble. ANd that is NEVER good.

Now, what to do for a half hour? Its a lovely half hour before work, and I am done with this blog entry.....maybe I will update my web site?...yeah, I will..

And so it beginns....

Ah, I love the sound of the door alarm bell ringing in the morning. Someone new to the dorm must have accidently went out the fire doors and set off the lovely fire door alarm. LOL. Nothing so nice to wake up to in the morning as that. Its almost like you can't live in VO and NOT NOT hear those sounds. It would break tradition if every once in a while someone didnt go through those doors. Man, makes me want to laugh. But anyways, finally got my workschedule. Thank GOD! I have enough hours to be able to pay for my bills. Fun things happen over break. First off, I'm back on evensong, secondly I am playing this friday for chapel, third I am going on the 30th down to Mark's dad's church to play bass. Man, busy schedule. I love it! Its finally good to be back at school and doing everything that I need and love to do. I mean, I love being busy at times. Ah....nothing like having an unstable system early in the morning. Installing the new Avalon core for Windows Xp. Should be a blast as I go to work and they try to figure out whats wrong with the computer ;-). Well I guess I should get going, work only beginns in an hour, and I got some stuff I need to take care of. Guess for now, I have to sign off. And I've also grown in what I am focused on and who I am focused on and what I am using as a basis for all my relationships and as the framework for my eventual spouse(if I ever get married)

Today in class....well...it was interesting. Got only three wrong on the test...all of them true/false. WHOO HOOO!

Was teasing Sarah today about what it would be like if becky and her younger brother ever hooked up. I don't think she liked it all that much, so I will make sure not to mention it tomorrow to her. Just to try and keep the peace. LOL.

Another day of classes starts tomorrow. WEE. My blogs, I realize, have been totally....superficial. That is because I don't have time to update as freuently as I would like with the time that I used to have. But hey, we can't all be that deep and creative can we? LOL. Well I guess sleep she calls, so I must not fighet her call and must go and join my brother sheet and sister pillow in slumber land. Later ya'll!

J-Term Week 2

So here I am, sitting in my dorm. No homework, fully done with my lovely take home test for project management, done with the book(WHOO HOO---ALL 15 CHAPTERS ARE DONE!) and actually......bored. Wow. Never though I would say that. I am bored during a J-Term class. Its not that the class is boring(far from it, its one of the more exciting classes that I have taken in a while) but that I am bored because I have all the material done. ::Sigh:: Oh well. As they say, one bored class is another thing in life that.......wait....no ones ever said anything about it before!

..........

Well I am in class today, and guess what. I am not that bored. HAHA. Dr. Young is a great professor. I actually enjoy his class. And guess what, I might get an A in this one. WHOO HOO. My GPA will go UP!

J-Term

I'm in it for the long haul. J-term is about half way over. WHOO HOOO. Actually my class isn't that bad. For it being a whole semester condensed into two weeks, it isn't that stressful. In all actuality, we got out two hours early today, with a take home test! He he he. I love those things. So I came back to the room, took the test, read for tomorrow, and afterwards did some computer maintence, played some DDR, took a shower. And now I am writting on this blog. After I get done here, I am going to start a new pet project of mine. It will be tedious at first, but I will enjoy it. I am going to be buliding a database of spyware registry entries. Why? Just for fun. LOL. Becky, if you are reading this, I am serious. Actually. I am getting sick of spyware on my system. So what am I going to do? I am going to go and make my own kinda rudamentry spyware scanner. I don't really need it to tell me all the ones I have or ask if I want to delete them, I just need it to delete them. LOL. Actually. If I get a little ambitoius this could be my new pet project that would be sweet. Hmmm... Am I THAT ambitious?(cause if I wanted it to be super-sweet it would have to be in non .NET c++) I guess this semester will determine that. I will be spending a lot of time in tech support. And when I am not at tech support or class, I plan on getting a second job so that I can help my mom pay off some of her bills and what not. So yeah. I will be busy. DDR and programming will be my stress relivers.

Well, I am back in VO. Its finally happend. I really didn't care for the apartments that much, but its all good. I would have survived there, its just I am happier here in the dorms. You know how people are always telling you to do what you like? What makes you come alive? Well working with freshmen in the freshmen dorm, getting to know them and just through knowin them and interacting with them influencing them...that is what makes me come alive, that is my calling(at least while in college) that is my passion. Sometimes I think I might have choosen the wrong profession going into computers, but then I forget that even in the computer and buisness field God can still use me. Just because I am not in some official ministry position full time does not mean that all of a sudden God can not work in some way through me. Thats a humbling thought to think that God can use each and every one of us, no matter where we are in life, no matter our job or occupation. That is something that is sweet. There are many parts to the body, and we each have our specific roles to play. That is what is the most awsome thing in the world. One thing I will say though is that I do plan on being involved in a youth group once I get settled into my life(or I decide that I am bored with the way life is going at the current moment....LOL) whereever I end up at after I graduate. There is just something about working with teens that at times brings me alive, but it is not something that I could do full time. I don't have a) the energy b) the knees c) the knowledge to do it full time with teens all the time. My hat goes off to all youth pastors and those who are going into the youth ministry field. My year+ time as a youth leader out at my old church out here.....lets just say that that was interesting and an eye-opener. Never easy, but always a challenge and enjoying.

Personally, I don't belive in new years reolutions. They never go the way you want them to go and they are always more hastle than they are worth. So....I am not going to make one....LOL.

Well I should get going, time to program. Have fun you all. I am going to start on a fun project that will take me forever and a day to do!

And the decision is.....

follow the heart.....

Heart or Mind?

HELLO CONFUSION. BYE-BYE SANITY!

So when your heart and your mind don't agree, which one do you follow? Especially when it is your heart saying no and your mind is saying yes? I need to follow and hear God on the direction to go, but yet.....the noise, the static between the two seem to drown out the voice. Fighting the battle alone(of figuring out which one to follow, on which is right, on what/where God is leading) is difficult alone. Boy I love confusing times!

How has christmas been?

Well break has been....interesting? I think thats the word one would use, yeah, I am almost sure thats the work one would use to describe it. LOL. I know its been a while since I last updated my blog spot, so I thought I would go ahead and just do one big old update since the last one was done and then continue on in doing more regular updates from here on out. Well, where to start? Hmmm...

TOP TEN THINGS THAT I HAVE DONE THIS CHRISTMAS BREAK:
10) Had my younger cousin over and played video games and talked with him--even though he's 15, he's more mature then some 20/21/22 year olds that I know
9) Had a phone conversation with Rachael "ma deats" Deater the first day I got back home, that was entertaining. She's random for sure.
8) Put up the Christmas tree and all lights on it in under a day (I know that sounds weird, but around here, the lights used to take two to three days to do)
7) Got to play at church again, man is that fun, and I miss doing it. I know I do Evensong, but I miss my church.
6) Recording a cd with the church band of all original music
5) Got to talk to Michelle a few times on the phone, she's coming out to Wisconsin on the 27th
4) My dog. Can anything else be said?
3) Made a mess in my new bedroom with all my stuff as is getting reorganized on what I amtakin and leavin here.
2) Ordered DDR for the PC as well as two matts for it.
1) SLEEPIN IN LATE!!!
Yeah, I know thats a pretty boring list there of top ten things I have done, but I could just have
easily listed numbers 1-10 as all sleep. LOL. I did a lot of that the first two to three days I was
home, now I am usually in bed around 2, and then am up around 7 now. Dog wants out everyday. I tell ya, thats one way to wake a person up. Dog whines until you pull yourself out of bed and then when you go and take her out, your hit by a winter chill. Oh man that sucks at times! Oh well, she's my dog and I love my dog. Always have loved dogs, and don't know why.
Well, I am 700 dollars poorer this upcoming semester. My car decided to break once I got back. I took it in for squealing coming from the front of the car when I turned, and thought maybe it was just the belt for power steering, so I took it in to have them check it out. Well lo and behold, there was more than just that issue with the car. The car actually was having problems with the tire rods, both in the car were about to break. And then the radiator seal broke too, so I had to get a new radiator. ::Sigh:: Oh well, at least the car is back in action and will be for some time again. At least this break hasn't been totally boring, I mean, I did get to have a good time of relaxation before the next semester begins(oh wait, did I mention that I am a total slacker next semester? LOL. 13 credits total, and only 10 of them are during the spring semester, the other three are during j-term) Anyways, it has been, like I said, interesting. Almost another family brawl and my aunt's and uncle's cousin's house, followed by a family argument and telling off of one another in a restaurant five mins later, followed by people storming off. That was day 4 of me being home. Follow that up with family fighting the rest of the break and you got yourself a grand old fun time that no one wants to deal with, especially not me right now. At least I havent gotten sick yet. My mom got the pnemonia and flu shots
and within a few days was down for the count. Glad I didn't get them. speaking of which, got my mom a sweet gift for christmas. She broke her gold necklace a few weeks ago, and right now around here money is tight, technically I am the richest one in the family(which isn't saying much--and in all reality is very very sad), so she doesnt have enough money to get a new chain. Well I just happened to go to KMART on Monday, and noticed that all their jewlery was 70% off. Thats right, 70% off! I saw that percetage off, and thought it would be good to at least check out how much a gold necklace for her would be. Well, without the discount it would have been 110 dollars, not that bad actually, but once the discount and taxes were applied, it was a whopin 34 dollars! HeHeHe. So she's getting that for christmas, that way she can hang her cross back on her necklace like she used to do. Actually, the gift is sitting on the tree right now. Yes, I said sitting ON the tree. WHy? Well my dog(Snuggles) loves to chew on things, and if its on the ground, its fair game for being chewed upon. And I was not about to let her chew on this thing, so I just put it high up in the branches. As long as the cats stay downstairs it should be all good.

Well, that was enough random dribble about my life, wouldn't one say? In all actuality though, it has been a good interesting break as well, at least from a spiritial standpoint and all. You know, God has good timing. He knows exactly what to do and when to do it all the times, at just the right time each time to lift, encourage, correct, or to enforce somthing(yea, and all four can happen at the same time too! Which did happen to me this week.) I won't go into the details on it(mostly because it aint appropriate for a web blog), but lets just say that God knows what he is doing, and exactly when to do it.

Well I better get going, cause I have to teach my brother how to find textbooks online. ::Sigh::

Well, until I post again, peace, and later

Gus.

Remote Post Test

This is a test to see if the remote posting works or not….

Finally Shifting over....

Well, for a while I decided that I was gonna blog on my own web site. But then I realized something. That was kinda crazy, becaue when it comes down to it I don't have the time to organize it and all, and it would just be a waste. So why not let someone who has already written the code handel it for me instead? Eh? Unless some day I get off my lazy butt and do it myself. Then it would be all good, you know? But anyways. Today I have been at work. Yeah. First Saturday alone at work. Not that exciting. Had two phone calls--one of them was actually for the ITC. LOL. The other the library ran out of toner, so they were checking to see if we had any in stock, which we did, so it was an even exchange. Normal. Had one computer come in, but it was out in like an hour. Which I know she was glad that it was. She needs her comptuer for many things---like papers....like all college students at this time of the year. But she was happy when she got it back. Finally her wireless card is working properly. Just some stuipid dell settings which changed how the card worked and all. Oh well.

The turkey shoot website is coming along just nicely. Gotta just debug some more php for the site and it should be ready to go live at any time. Unfortuantly it looks like no one is signing up. Which is a bummer because it might not be as popular as they were hoping. They were hoping to close registration by the 5th, but that doesnt look like its going to happen, considering today is the 6th. 9 more days till the site goes live! WHOOO HOOO. That means some late night php binge coding sessions for me.

Yeah, so next friday is the 12th. That makes it one month. Man, they say time goes by when your having fun. I think it also flies when you are stressed, tired, and busy beyond degree that it makes it hard to have any sort of relationship. You know what I mean? Well I got some nice plans in store for Friday. Can't say what they are though, cause that wouldn't be fair for someone. She needs to be surpised. HAHA. Michelle will be shocked, for sure. Yeah, I can't believe how lucky I am. Michelle is awsome. Right now I wish she wasn't having migranes or that there was more that I could do for her for them, but at times when someone knows you care, that is the most important and powerful thing in the world for them. You know, I have never felt like this for someone before, and I hope that it only continues on. Well work is almost done, so I guess I better log off the computer before I stay here for another half hour just typing and staying over.

Something Big...

Don't you love it when people tell you stuff, sometimes stuff you don't wanna hear, or don't wanna believe? Ever since I have been a freshmen in high school people have repeatedly told me there is something unique/special/whatever about me and that my future holds a great future and that I will do something big, and even last year when I was at the THRIVE retreat one of the women there propisied(sp) that I was gonna be one calling out and declaring the name in the Lord like one of the biblical charecters from the OT. All of that, and yet.......why do I feel like I hate this? There is a part of me that is excited to see what my future holds.....but at the same time........I don't know. Cause I don't know what is in hold for me, and that is probably the scariest part of it. I mean, I kinda want to know where my future is going, but I have to stay at the fact that I don't know, and that is frustrating. Also, I would like to know what people see in me. I mean, it kinda freaks me out daily when all I have been hearing for the past eight years is that I am going to do something special in my life, that there is something "special" about me, that God has something big planned to do through me, etc... I mean, even back in my high school days when I did stuff that I truely regret now, even deep down in my sin then, people were still going that there was something special about me and that I was going to do something big in the future. They could never put their finger on it, they said, but they kept going on about how I was different, which even to this day is still frustrating. How can one not get freaked out about that? Its not like its something that I can just easily forget, you know? Now, this isn't to pump me up and all. I don't know, I guess for some reason last night and today this thought has been going through my mind more than ever. Why? Well.....there are some reasons why. I am sitting at the crossroads of some things, and part of me wants to say that this is the beginning of me doing something that has been told that I will do ever since I was little, but at the same time I keep saying to myself it was just a bunch of hoopla. That there really was nothing meant by anyone there, that they were just trying to be.....nice? I don't know, like I said, I don't know. What I do know though is that that really does not matter. I mean, it does matter, but it also does not matter to. You know what I mean? I don't know what the future holds, God does. I guess I just have to rely and wait on him. And if it is something big...........then even that would be small in the eyes of God. Crazyness is my life at times, and I love it.

Used to be a xangan.....

But I decided that this provided a more stable and more reliable means of control of certain variables. Had a meeting for work this morning, and it was just pretty releaxed and cool, got to meet the rest of the people that I will be working with. Gena is cool, I already knew here. As did I know Becky and Justin, both of them are sweet as well. Justin is just a riot at times, he has an interesting perspective on life, of course him being a drummer and all, that is what normally happens. Speaking of drummers, last night rocked. Evensong went off pretty well, and trust me it was not because we were experienced or anything, and its all becuase of God that we were able to do anything last night. There were a host of technical difficulties. Like, my amp shooting out too much sound and in order to direct inject into the sound system I had to have my amp produce almost no sound at all. That made it not only difficult on me, because I could barely hear myself(having to rely on the sound coming from the main system than my own amp to tell me how on I was) but also on our drummer Andy. Man is he good. Guy has got some serious talent, I will tell you that much. Even though I was sucking it up last night, me and Andy were in sync. I guess becuase I have played with different drummers in my time of playing bass. I just kept on looking over at him, our eyes locking and syncing up what we were thinking, its a musician thing I guess. As long as we did that once in a while, we were ok, because we knew where to go next, and what we needed to do as far as for stoping and entering and crashes and what not. Its pretty sweet. It's taken me a while to get in sync with him, but I think we are good now. This will make the recording of the cd even more solid and tight, which I think we are achieving more and more each and every week. I still miss playing with Jim Ray, though having him on auxilary percussion, definatly is a help, because his drumming personality definatly comes out and it helps me and Andy to stay in sync with one another because he makes it easier for us to do a build on a song rather than just a flat out solid loud entrance(which is sitll fun once in a great while ) Like I said earlier, I can't wait till we record the live cds because it will definatly be a sweet time because as a group we are jellin. I'm even starting to adapt and anticipate(sometimes, this isn't a science here) what Alan will do next, which gives me a little more flexability.
I officially start work on Wednesday, and get to have about 12 hours a week, which is pretty sweet. A little extra spending money(*cough* credit card payoffs *cough*) but it will be good, any little bit that I can use. I can't wait. I basically work from 1 till 5 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That means that I won't be bored as much anymore on those days, and though I won't get as much homework done as I used to on those days.........your right, I lied when I said I did homework during those times!
Anyways, I finally got a whole line of "prepry" cloths now thanks to Angel. Its not so much that I now desire to be preppy(all that I am not) but that I need the cloths for work, since its all has collars and all, but hey the cloths look nice and fit nice and were all ten bucks or less, so I can't complain now can I?
Class was cancelled today. My intermediate accounting class with Riter was unexpectidly called off. When I saw the sign I was rejoicing, but then someone was saying that it was probably his mother and that she was not doing well last week and that she might have died or she might be really really ill. Do I feel like the worst jerk ever. Here I was just rejoicing that class was cancelled, and come to find out his mother might be dying or dead. I feel like a jerk. Anyways, if you have time, remember to pray for John Ritter and his family, cause I don't know what is going on yet, but will post back as soon as I find out what happened. As a professor and person he is sweet. So yeah, pray for him, because we always need to lift up our bros and sisters in prayer continually and on a daily basis.
Well Theology 1 class is just a few mins away, so I think I should probably be going soon........but I don't want to.

Listening to: 12 Stones Potters field

Mood: contemplative, happy

PSO

Well I am avid PSO fan, and as of such when I found this I was happy. Here is a little of the intro, and before people get all uptight, I have permission to post it here. So without further ado(maybe I'll post more later....) “Maybe she was right.” A white blur hailed down from the sky, barely missing the tattered armor which barely hung to the tired ranger’s frame. “This armor, has been a life saver, but I don’t know how much longer it will last.” Barely audiable, the words betrayed their master to the enemy at hand of the direction the ranger had run to dodge the last attack. “Yeah, she was right, but no time for that now. I’ll tell her I was wrong next time I see her.” A smile broke across the ranger’s face as he dodged yet another bolt of lightening aimed at his body. While running from location to location looking for prime opportunities to shoot his opponent, he imagined in his head the reaction of his friend when he would actually admit that he was wrong about something. The shock that would seize her body, hearing for the first time in her life that he was wrong, something that she herself probably did not think would ever happen in her lifetime. “Now, must concentrate on staying alive, otherwise I won’t be able to tell her I was wrong.” The smile quickly faded from his face as he saw a blade aiming for his head, a change in tactics by his foe which took the ranger completely off guard. Immediately, he was snapped back to the task at hand. An expression of shock came over him as he quickly tried to get out of the way of the oncoming blade. He managed to move out of the way of the full brunt of the force of the foul beast, but the edge of the beasts blade got him, and sliced a small gash on his bicep, exposing some of the muscle of his arm to the air. “That idiot is gonna get me if I don’t be careful. I’ve come too far to fail now. I can’t fail, now that I am so close to my goal, so close to claiming my reward.” The foul beast hovered before him, almost seeming to smile, like he had just destroyed some helpless town. Thoughts of confusion flashed through the ranger’s head. “What the heck, he missed me. Why is he grinning at me?” His mind was racing at all the possible reasons that this beast of evil was smiling at him. All of a sudden he felt a strange tingling coming from his skin as well as a sudden charge of energy flowing through his body which seemed to instantaneously drain all of his strength. The pain sent a jolt though his body, as he tensed up, his eyes bulging from the sensation he was feeling deep inside of him. His mind was once again racing back to the deepest part of his memory. The description seemed so familiar, not like something that he himself had experienced, but like something that he had read before. It was so familiar to him, but yet at the same time something that was hard to remember the exact source of the memory. Then he remembered. “Oh shoot. Heacleath Flowen, this is how he got infected. These are the symptoms that Flown described in his journals.” Looking down at his arm, he could see the infection already starting to grow, slowly starting to take over his arm. There was something different though about this infection than the one that claimed the life of Flowen. This was growing too fast, spreading too much in a short amount of time. According to the medical records which had been reviewed and the journals which Pioneer 2 and the research team in the Seabed research utility found, it took weeks for the infection to completely spread through out all of Flowen’s body. At the rate this infection was spreading, it wouldn’t be long now before he was completely taken over. He already knew what the end result would be. He would loose his mind and became a beast, like Flown had. Falling to his knees in front of the beast a moan of pain and agony escaped his now shivering body. He was shivering not from the cold, but from the heat and from the tearing of his soul from inside his body. The infection was now spreading rapidly through his body, draining all his strength and corrupting his not only his body but his mind as well. Leaning over, his arm resting on his rifle which had served him faithfully over the years, he saw his faithful friend hovering over his shoulder. “It’s too late buddy, but don’t worry about me, I’ll be ok.” The ranger managed to force a grin on his face while looking at his long time and faithful friend. The grin was full of pain, as he felt the evil inside of him, taking over his entire body. His friend didn’t seem convinced by the rangers false front he was trying to put on. Quickly, and without consent from his master, the mag plowed himself into his masters arm, fusing for a quick second with his masters muscle that had been exposed by the wound. The ranger was confused as he saw the mag start to dive toward his arm, but soon learned of what the mag was doing. The mag, his friend for well over two years, had plowed itself into the rangers arm and was absorbing all the dark energy that was emanating from the wound and infecting the ranger’s body directly into it’s own core, sacrificing itself for that of its master and friend. The transfer sent a shock through the ranger’s body, as the evil energy was purged from his body just as rapidly as it had infected him. “What are you doing?” he yelled. But it was too late. The mag fell down at the rangers feet, black from the horrible death it had just suffered through and hard as stone, as was evidenced by the loud thump produced when the mag hit the ground. The energy had been too much for it to absorb. This was not like the poison of the lilies, this was pure evil in its most concentrated form. Slowly the mag started to disintegrate right before his eyes, leaving behind streams of black energy as the excess energy dissipated into the surrounding air. A tear escaped from the rangers eyes, traveling slowly down the ranger’s face though the layers of dirt that had formed on his face from the many days traveling through the ruins of the ancient spaceship deep beneath the planets crust.. “You are going to pay!” was all he could mutter. Quietly at first, but then, as he repeated it under his breath it became louder and louder with each repetition, until he was screaming it at the top of his lungs at the beast that was hovering before him, a dark haze surrounding the beast that had just killed the ranger’s friend. Covered in the darkness of its own evil, the beast hovered in front of the ranger, emanating an aura of pure concentrated evil. Even the slight touch from the creature was devastating to any living organism, and even inorganic materials were not safe from the evil that radiated from the beast. The ranger’s armor showed it. The once brilliant armor that had been able to light up a darkened room from the photons embedded in it was now barely whole. Falling apart at the seams, the photons have almost completely left the armor due to the damage and the dark auras of the enemies which the ranger had come in contact with recently. Normally, the armor would have been retired at this point by most other hunters as its ability to protect had been seriously compromised, but he was stubborn. To everyone else, he said that he kept the armor since it was given to him by his best friend, but only to himself would he admit that the reason he didn’t acquire new armor was because he didn’t want to change anything, even if the quality of the other item was better. It was not in his best interest at any time to change armor, especially if he had to pay for it, but he knew that this would be the armor’s last battle, and whether it cost money or not, he would require some new armor to protect him after this battle was over. But for now, it was all the cunning ranger had. He had to make it last this one last time, otherwise his life was over. Leaning on his trusted gun, the ranger slowly arose to his feet. Staggering back and forth, the ranger extended his arm weakly, releasing a barrage of glittery particles around him. The wounds on his body closed up instantly, as he felt a surge of energy flowing through his body, restoring his lost strength. Normally, the Resta technique only closed wounds on the casters and their allies bodies, but this modified version of Resta was pure magic, as was taught to the young ranger a few years before by a strange visitor which had revealed a great deal to him. “You look surprised you jerk. What, you didn’t know Rangers could learn magic did you? You thought I should only have techniques at my disposal? Your about to learn what else I can do.” The monster hovered a few meters back, but continued to stare down his adversary, analyzing the situation it was now in. It had seen this magic before. The previous caster of this technique of magic was the person who had sealed him away in his prison. This caused a flare or anger to rise up in the beast. Confused over why the monster was not running for the hills, the ranger shouldered his rifle, aiming for what he had been told were the critical spots on the beast. Just as he was to pull the trigger, the beast motioned his arm, and released a fast moving purple ball of energy from his mouth. The ranger had no time to react as the ball instantly hit him, throwing him to the ground, his gun landing many feet out of reach of the fallen ranger. The ranger’s eyes slowly started to close, as he rapidly lost consciousness. “Nina, I’m sorry.” He gasped. Slowly his eyes started rolling back in his head as his head tilted to the side. “I’m sorry Nina” the last bit of consciousness had managed to whisper in his mind.

Theology....

Theology...
Theology test tomorrow. Actually, I am kinda nervous, becuase soon I have to report for my first day of work. Whoo Hoo. Actually I am more than excited about that. Its been my dream to work for tech support for a while, and now that I got the job I am stoked. Ah, speaking of tech support, Becky just walked in. Good old Becky. I pick on her a little too much at times, only because she makes it easy. Heck, I make it easy to throw things back at me but no one ever takes full opportunity of it. Maybe I should cut down on it......nah....why would I? J/K. Anyways. Today I start with my "training" on how to work in IS. Basically its how to do all the procedures right and all, not so much how to fix things. The procedures and all though are critical for an effective run of tech support. Nothing much has occured today. Just two classes. Got up later than I wanted to this morning, but since my roommate leaves at like 8 in the morning, it didnt matter thatI let my alarm ring forever and a day. LOL. I know I used to drive Ben crazy with that. Just at times I can't get up without a reminder for like a whole hour or so. And then once the hour is done I am finally persuaded enough to get up. Hope I aint like that when I am older and have a wife(if I ever get married that is)Well I should probably be takin off as I got work in a few mins, but I will update this later....

LATER:
Work was pretty good today. It wasn't really intense, as it shouldn't be the first day. It was more of a "Shadow Andjre and learn this" sort of day. Which was pretty sweet still because it allowed for me to learn some new stuff. My work partner for this training schedule is named Mike. I don't know his last name yet, but he seems to be a pretty cool guy. He's a freshmen, but I won't hold that against him. Why should I? He is at least trying and he seems like he will do good in tech support. He learns fast. Yeah, he is definatly gonna be an asset. My next day of work is Friday. That should be pretty sweet. Well things are getting hectic and I need to dry out a little bit before my next class, so I will catch ya all later I guess
Bye for now.

Old Testament History and Theology

So there are somet things which I truely love, and some things which I truley hate. One of the former being that I absolutly love learnign theology and all, and one of the later being that I absolutly hate tests on theology. Why do test always make soemthing that is enjoyable all of a sudden seem like the biggest task in the world? Its annoying is what it is.Anyways. So today will be an interesting day as I got a lot to do and almost no time left to do it. I have two tests tomorrow, one of them being a blue book test. For those of you who don't know what a blue book test is(yeah right, like how could you not if you are in college....) it is a book and a tst of full essays. Its annoying to say the least. SO that is tomrrow as well as all my accounting homework today.UPDATE:Today, Dr. Adams wanted to go through ALL of Leviticus and Numbers. He said 50 mins to Leviticus and then the rest ot Numbers as well as a presentation by a group. Well needless to say, no Numbers, and no presentation and barely finished Leviticus in the 2.5 hours we had the class. Man, is my brain dead!
